DeepStar Announces New Subsea Systems Committee Chair 

A Message from the DeepStar Director, Chris Haver

I am proud to introduce Tony Ray, a Subsea Engineer from ConocoPhillips as the new DeepStar Subsea and Pipeline Committee Chairman. Tony brings a diverse background and significant enthusiasm to this important position. Subsea development challenges are likely to be a key DeepStar focus for years to come and DeepStar looks forward to working with Tony to discover solutions. Tony's biography and contact information is included below.

DeepStar also wishes to thank our newest participant member, ConocoPhillips, for immediately getting involved in DeepStar Technical and Management Committee activity.

Tony Ray is a Staff Subsea Engineer in the Facilities and Process Engineering group at Conoco Phillips. The Facilities and Process Engineering Group at ConocoPhillips is an engineering group within Drilling and Production that provides technical support to ConocoPhillips global projects and operations.

Tony Ray joined ConocoPhillips in July of 2008 after working as Senior Project Manager in the Subsea Systems Groups at both J P Kenny and INTEC Engineering. Tony's career in the oil industry began well over a decade ago as a test engineer for National Oilwell in Houston, Texas. In July of 2002 he moved to Aker Kvaerner Subsea (AKS) as a Project Manager for subsea equipment in Houston. While at AKS Tony served in multiple roles focused on subsea production and controls systems. In 2002 he was assigned as a deputy project manager on Total's Dalia Ultra-Deepwater Project in West Africa and was eventually moved into a Project Management Role for the Subsea Equipment. In October of 2005 he was promoted to U.S. Service Manager for AKS, in this role Tony was responsible for AKS's subsea service operations in the Gulf of Mexico.

Tony earned a bachelor's degree in Industrial Electronic's from Eastern Kentucky University in 1993. He also has his Project Management Professional Certification from the Project Management Institute and is a Veteran of the United States Air Force.
